Hello and Welcome!Discussed below are some of the ways in which the School Council contributes to your children’s education and wellbeing at Montmorency Primary.
Montmorency Primary is a small and caring community school. Our positive communal ethos is reflected in the school’s motto, ‘Friendship, Safety, Learning and Respect’. These words weave their way through all that we do at Montmorency Primary. Our aim is for students to be secure, engaged, happy and open to rewarding learning. The size of our school allows children to be socially connected with students of all ages. Children are respected, their opinions considered and their contributions valued. Montmorency Primary is connected to our local community. Presently, we are fortunate to have over 60 community volunteers! Volunteers assist with reading, sports programs and our beloved Stephanie Alexander Kitchen and Garden Program. Montmorency Primary School Council is overseen by an engaged and enthusiastic membership. It consists of Principal Michael Otway, three teachers, seven parents and a community member. We follow appropriate processes and governance designed for our school environment, benefitting the children’s wellbeing and education. The functions of our School Council are outlined in the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 and include such things as:
As the governing body of the school the School Council develops the board direction and vision of the school. The Principal and school staff implement policies and manage the day-to-day activities of the school. To enable the School Council to best reflect our community’s values and priorities it depends on valuable parental participation. Being involved with the School Council allows parents to make a positive and meaningful difference to the kinds of quality educational programs on offer. Parents can assist by being School Council members or by participating in School Council Sub-committees. Current Sub-committees are:
Active involvement in your child’s School has many rewarding outcomes: you assist in the growth and sustainability of a fantastic local school; you gain insight to your child’s educational journey and you will be able to gain valuable skills and knowledge. Many parents have commented on how different contemporary schooling is to when they went to school; it’s a lot more fun!
